waiting, waiting...
i fall asleep
Stonestar knew that he was supposed to be resting. He was still a bit worn out from the long journey to get his nine lives, and he honestly wished he had been curled up in his comfortable bed sleeping, but he just couldn't. Maybe it was insomnia, or maybe he was just a bit restless for this one night, but he had figured he might as well patrol if he was going to be up this late. Saying his goodbye to the guard that was positioned outside of camp, the leader had slipped silently through the trees, a soft him rumbling through his throat. He wasn't trying to hunt anything, so he figured it was fine to just relax and hum. What he wasn't expecting, was the somewhat clumsy pawsteps he could hear coming through the brush.

Frowning, the male opened his mouth and wrinkled his nose when he caught the scent of twolegs. A kittypet? He hadn't met a kittypet in a very long time, especially anywhere near clan territory like this. Lowering himself to the ground a bit, he slowly moved to inspect Parker, his eyes giving a faint glow in the moonlight. It didn't seem like the former kittypet was any sort of threat, but he couldn't help but feel worried. Twolegs generally cared about their feline companions, and he didn't want any of those clumsy creatures trampling through the forest of Thunderclan. He had to send this cat off, as soon as possible.

Emerging from the shadows cautiously, the stout and strong blue tabby flicked his tail back and forth for a moment before speaking, trying to sound intimidating, but not horrifying, "Who are you? You're on Thunderclan territory, and we don't appreciate kittypet trespassers." He doesn't want to terrify the poor thing too bad, but he also wants him gone, unless he had a good explanation for his clumsy and inexperienced paws on their earth.

Panthercry remembered seeing one during a patrol near the two-leg place. They were fat, content with their lives, and usually scared of her. It was understandable, Panthercry had never been a soft-looking cat. She was lithe and powerful, her namesake was accurate for sure. She never understood the concepts of kittypets however - even though they got food, for what cost? They could never go anywhere, the bells on their collars made noises - you could hear them from at least fifteen or twenty fox-lengths away, no matter how quietly they were hunting.

This cat is.. interesting. This is much further into the territory than most kittypets dared to venture, but yet here he was, stinkin' up the place with that two-leg smell. Even though she knew kittypets were nothing to fear (if anything, Panthercry was the threat), the scent still made her fur fluff with apprehension. Two-legs were never a good thing, and if that cat was bringing his dumb two-legs around in search for him.. well, Panthercry would have a claw or two to show the kittypet when she had the next chance.

Stonestar spoke first, surprising Panthercry. Well, it was good to know there was another one nearby. Stepping forwards to stand by Stonestar's side, she dipped her head politely to Stonestar, before fixing her vibrant yellow gaze on Parker. "Make it fast, some of us have meals to catch today." Panthercry added, a light jab at the two-leg garbage most kittypets ate.

The life of a kittypet and all it’s boring glory doesn’t quite cut him out for the life of a fierce warrior: the kind that hunts for his food, rather than receives it on demand, and the kind that can take down a badger— or at least fight til’ your death— rather than hide in the nearest tree. His two long, bumbling days in the forest should have served as a warning of what there is to come if he were to continue. He’s exhausted and he’s starving— god is he’s starving. He’d tried to catch his own prey, silently stalking the terrain to the mice nearest to him. But then, in his careful calculations, a branch poofs and snaps under paws hurrying the rodent away. He misses home, where food was awaiting him every sunrise, but it’s not enough to draw him back. Something brings him here for a reason, and it’s not just the fact that his mother had been a warrior before him or even that there’s something merely exciting about the concept of being greater than anyone ever thinks you would be.

The sun is setting over behind the pine trees, the night before not bringing him any luck of sleep, no true place to find solitude in for even four hours. He briefly manages, proud, but... well, remember that badger mentioned earlier? His mother didn’t appreciate a cat dreaming along with her kits, who barely took notice. Olivia probably awaits for him to curl up at the edge of her bed, comes home every night in hopes he’d return. Her heart probably aches for him. He understand, as his does, too. But he has a prophecy. One that may have begun but doesn’t end in his owner’s soft comforter... no matter how comfortable it was.

Another example of his lack in luck? His failure to catch the waft of scent that tells him he’s crossed into Thunderclan territory. His initial plan was to reach Shadowclan territory, where his mother had been born and raised until she’d eventually be exiled. He thought he’d been going in the right direction, but he’d lost whatever path he thought he’d been taking along the way. He’s sought out to find what he thinks is Shadowclan camp as stealthy as possible, unaware that someone might not too far behind him.

How is it that I've fallen in love with you? How can it hurt this much? Never before have I ever wanted someone this much. If I say I miss you about a thousand times, will it reach you? If I try crying and fussing, will you know my feelings?
