[align=center] molly had survived the disasters that broke apart the clans but in this chaos, the monuments she had arranged to her girlfriend and lost child were destroyed. she decided, once she had moved, that she had to make new ones.
using a knife she had found long ago, she carved two holes into the side of a dead tree. it took her a long time, but when they were finished she carved names above them: "lup" and "okand", lup being her girlfriend's name and okand being swedish for unknown. she never had the privilege of knowing their baby and so this name seemed most appropriate.
the holes were then filled with the prettiest rocks molly could find and flowers were placed on top of the piles. she took a step back and looked. this made her sad, of course, but she smiled at the thought of their memories living a bit longer. she sat and watched the sky for a moment, keeping the flood of emotions at bay, restraining her grief. this wasn't the place for it.

Restraining one's emotions was, while probably the safest option in the short term, not particularly healthy in the long term.
A few months prior, she probably would have placed those statements in reverse order, prioritizing short-term security over long-term stability. What had happened to LithiumClan had been because the world wished to capitalize on her own physical and emotional weaknesses, or so she had thought for several years. Even now, with Sadie's words fresh in her mind, she struggled not to give in to her old, destructive mindset.
As the mutated canine approached the scene and examined the dead tree, she nodded to herself. Though she didn't know the creature standing before the tree, between the stones, the flowers, and the names carved at the top, the purpose of the setup was clear- she had gone through enough losses to recognize a memorial when she saw one. Perhaps, when she and whoever joined her in her quest reached the ruins, she would have to create something to immortalize LithiumClan's memory, even beyond the paper notebooks that she had recorded its history on.
With a soft sigh, Seija took a seat and curled her tail around her paws, then dipped her head. Regardless of who the lost ones had been, it seemed only proper to pay a moment's respects.

[align=center] //oof thank you for replying though molly is my favorite character and this is important to her and i just. hate to see it get buried lmao
molly inhaled sharply and quietly, startled for a second, and then a sad smile settled back onto her face when she saw the lowered head. "thank you. she, uh, wouldn't have wanted anyone to grieve but i can't let her be forgotten, y'know?"

[font=trebuchet ms]/yeah, I totally get it
/I’ve had that happen with Seija a few times before and it. sucks
"Thank you. She, uh, wouldn't have wanted anyone to grieve but I can't let her be forgotten, y'know?"
Having now been on both sides of this sort of situation, she understood completely. She knew the weight that grief and anguish shoved into a person’s shoulders, had shoved onto her shoulders far too many times to count, and there was no way that she could expect anyone else to carry that burden. She would likely never know for sure if anyone had grieved for her after James returned from the gods’ lair without her, but she hoped that on the off chance they had cared enough to mourn, they hadn’t mourned for long.
Yet, despite the suffering that the loss of a loved one inflicted on a person, you couldn’t just forget about them. After all that the other LithiumClanners had done for her- after they had taken her in as a child, protected her, given her something worth fighting for- it would be an insult not to remember them. It hurt to think about the various ways in which they had been taken from her, but they had been right behind her then, and (if Sadie was to be believed) they were right behind her now.
â€ÂI know,†Seija responded softly, shifting her gaze to fix it on the other female. â€ÂI’ve been there.†Further explanation was unnecessary, she thought. This was for the other girl, not for herself.

[align=center] 5 words didn't give her much to think about and she couldn't keep her thoughts away from her loss. the doe's eyes began to water slightly and she sniffed. "i-" she wiped at her eyes with the back of her, uh, wrist or... whatever joint that is. "i loved her so much. i still do." tears were building up and falling now, and molly turned away from seija. "sorry, sorry, i'm just-" she sniffed again.
