TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - truce. - 12-11-2022 [align=center][div style="width: 470px; text-align: justify; font-family: new times roman; font-size: 8pt; letter-spacing: 2.5px; word-spacing: 1px; line-height: 14px;"]Hey everyone! This is a plotting thread for the new electricity plot where we see Flintlock Lodge, Northstar District, Bluestem Prairie and Vice World team up as one big conglomerate group. Here I've quoted what I had written on this thread just as a point of reference following the vote last month, and I'll just share my thoughts at the moment. Feel free to share any ideas that you might have! Quote: Instead of a sole leader in the conglomerate group, it will be led by representatives from each group, usually the most upstanding citizens as spokespeople. It will become a group led by democracy, left in the hands of the people's vote rather than a sole leader. So I still feel like having a member-led group would be a step in the right direction, with a few high positions confirming the people's vote as spokespeople from each former group, allowing for a level of autonomy for all members (and writers!) in the group. Of course, I feel like the group would still have to decide upon a set of rules that everyone is obligated to abide to, but this group would not at all match the current layout of The Badlands' tyrannical rule. As for location, I really like the idea of these groups finding a new territory all together that can cater for their specialities whilst also having an environment that shares the fundamentals of what each group used to be? Idk if that made much sense FHKJL but what I mean is it would be nice to have a territory perhaps like the coastline of Alaska where Northstar can make use of their maritime skills in fishing and seafaring trades, boreal forests and snow for Flintlock's logging and a prime place for hunting and foraging. I could also imagine in this environment vast areas of plains between forests for Bluestem's agricultural specialties - they could raise livestock and grow crops in ideal locations (although I feel like an Alaskan-type environment may prove to be a little difficult to grow crops, but the lack of food security with failing crops could be a fun plot as the big group navigate settling down in a new environment) - and whilst I doubt they will be able to find an amusement park nearby, I could totally see the people of Vice World making the main settlement a place ideal for travellers to want to visit the group with entertainment that they once profited off of in their amusement park (therefore helping the group's growing economy now that Bones are being more normalised as TNW's currency), whilst also doubling as the three gangs working together as the group's main form of security and combat leaders. Maybe the specialities of the groups can lead to particular roles in this new group. So people from Flintlock are the hunters, Northstar the traders, Bluestem the farmers and raiders, Vice World as the fighters. And, as new people join the group, they can chose where they stand within the community. As for relations between The Badlands, I can see a rivalry form as BL become intimidated by the newfound power that this new group has now that all the groups have merged. Plus because of the following... Quote:There is currently a group of researchers in ND that have been trying to rediscover electricity to build the world up from nothing again - some have been working on this for months, others for years - and so there is the idea that this group is who discovered it again, before being captured by BL so that BL can be the group to benefit from the electricity first for their own selfish needs. This could inspire the conglomerate group more than ever to work together to develop their "for the greater good" kind of civilisation before BL manages to develop their "self-serving" kind of civilisation. This could be the plot to kick everything off, first the natural disaster which gets everyone's guards down as they try figure out what to do and, before they know it, the Northstar researchers are taken by BL because of their success in discovering electricity again. Tbh that's all that I have so far! I just feel like that could be a pretty fun concept to spice TNW up again without closing too many doors of individuality in the process. But let me know what you think and whether you have any other ideas! I'd be keen to figure out a way for everyone's ideas to be included in this new plot! EDIT; also I forgot to add, we need a name for this new group! Any ideas would be appreciated and we can all vote on it. Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - south - 12-14-2022 [align=center][div style="width:500px;text-align:justify;line-height:1.2;font-size:9pt;"]OBSESSED with this so far. right off the bat, i want to suggest the possibility of the natural disaster being a wide-spread, severe drought / dry season. it would explain how it affects so many territories and each in a different way. crops drying up > livestock in poor health > food scarcity > survivors in poor health > illnesses becoming easier to develop. theres even the possibility of wild fires starting frequently as well due to the drought bringing this dry season in certain climates. groups coming together to share what resources they have. maybe this explains a sea side location, as they are then able to sterilize saltwater in mass amounts now that they have more people. people travelling with livestock to this new group as well so they can not only have another food source, but fertilize the previously poor soil. this could also explain a colder, northern territory due to the use of snow/ice when it is available, they're able to make greater use of it and store it. etc etc! as for ranks and laws, i agree with the democratic system of voting for maybe like 3 spokespeople every few months or so. new rules/policies being passed with a voting system. the members being able to denounce any spokesperson with a vote as well. possible trials of guilt as well before any action is taken. and for names, i do think a name such as "the republic of ____" or something along the lines of that. i'm not sure the name for it, but something kind of all-encompassing for the way their group is structured, if that makes sense! Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - truce. - 12-14-2022 [align=center][div style="width: 470px; text-align: justify; font-family: new times roman; font-size: 8pt; letter-spacing: 2.5px; word-spacing: 1px; line-height: 14px;"]I really like those ideas!! Like perhaps Vice World & Bluestem's droughts made both places uninhabitable, maybe a wild fire in Flintlock as a result of the shift in weather, and as for Northstar? They could totally suffer from shortages of food supplies as a result of the droughts - since they often got a lot of their resources through trading with the other groups - so after BL snatch the researchers, maybe the other groups all decide they really have to start fresh in a better environment, firstly for survival but also for manpower against BL. Also I love the idea of the prefix for the group name!! I decided to look around for some ideas and,,,,,, The Republic of... - Haling Cove - Blackburn - Bybeech - Frostmount - Silent Stone - Grafburg - Green Bay - Port Canyon - Kruger Hills - Reeds Point - North Water - Hicksberg - Thornstand Just some ideas from when I scoured the internet KHJKL Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - Beatles. - 12-15-2022 Hiiii I don’t have anything to add really, I think everyone’s ideas are solid and make sense for the world. I am partial to Green Bay, Port Canyon, and Frostmount but I think that may be pretty dependent on the territory/climate the new group lives in ^^ I also think “The ___ Republic” would sound less wordy than “The Republic of ___” but that’s just my two cents. Either way going for “republic” definitely makes sense and I think it’s a nice idea for a name to represent all of the conjoined groups. I don't have two cents to toss in, I'm mostly just tracking here! Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - south - 12-17-2022 [align=center][div style="width:500px;text-align:justify;line-height:1.2;font-size:9pt;"]love this! it makes perfect sense. i know you suggested earlier in your discord server- but "black sky republic" is by FAR my favorite i love that name so much. it describes the group, the setting, and it just sounds badass jsdhkdf Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - Beatles. - 12-17-2022 I think either name would sound good but Black Sky Republic SLAPS Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - truce. - 12-18-2022 [align=center][div style="width: 470px; text-align: justify; font-family: new times roman; font-size: 8pt; letter-spacing: 2.5px; word-spacing: 1px; line-height: 14px;"]Yay I’m so glad people are keen on the name Black Sky Republic! I just thought it was a fun name and I’m surprised I didn’t think about it earlier since a few months back I had popped the name “black sky” in my notes on my phone because I heard that it was what some nations called the theoretical electrical outage apocalypse!! I feel like it would make a lot of sense since it’s ultimately what brings the groups together, and the abbreviation “The BSR” also sounds really cool if people wanted to shorten the name Re: TNW's New Group Plotting Thread - south - 12-19-2022 [align=center][div style="width:500px;text-align:justify;line-height:1.2;font-size:9pt;"]hell yeah. i love it! true- BSR sounds good too, and even nicknaming it "the republic" is good too. it j fits so well! should we work on a guide soon then? looks like ill be having some snow days today onwards so i'm down to help! |
