[b]and i say to myself, what a wonderful world
Catalyst had ordered a combat training session, but it seemed it was long overdue, likely due to the fact that, well, Michael had been shot. On that day, however, it had been agreed that the training would take place, and it was Sheogorath's job to announce it, and assist where he was needed. Despite his limp, he was uninjured, and because of his training, quite formidable in combat. Not to mention, he quite enjoyed the thrill of a fight, spar or not. He stood upon the outside steps of the casino, where people often mingled about, and opened his mouth to be heard.

[b]"BADLANDS! Time fer combat training, you'd best get over here before I skin ya, heh. And I mean that literally! I could use a new rug. Anyways, Michael will be along shortly to oversee, and make sure none of ya fuck up, which you probably will, 'cause yer all a buncha peasants, unlike me, the King of Dolphins."
He spoke with both humor and seriousness. "Anyways," He twisted his cane in display, "I'll be usin' me cane, and Mike will demonstrate how to deflect blunt weapons. If we have time fer blade training, we'll do that too." Sheogorath explained cheerily.

Should he be on crutches? Probably, was he? No. Even though he'd been shot in the leg, it wasn't like he was completely incapable of doing things. After all, he was a soldier, he could work through the pain, or soldier on as it were. Mike was tired though, he hadn't slept much that night, and the bags under his eyes were heavy. However, that was something most people in the Badlands had grown accustomed to he was sure.

And even on a little sleep he was still alert (if not a bit unstable). Michael frowned as he hobbled over, looking a bit out of place with his obvious limp, and favoritism of his leg, which was shot. The man sighed deeply, and leaned against the closest available building for support, which was, coincidentally right next to him. It was almost like he stopped right by the corner of a building to lean on it, but that couldn't be completely accurate!

"That's right ya pansies. So if ya got any complains about being injured, fucking save them, I don't want to hear it. If you're fighting for your life, you're not gonna be able to tip your cap and say "sorry but I'm injured, I'll just jaunt off" so get that through your fucking heads." Was he cheerful today? Well, his words did not sound very cheerful, or positive, but in truth he was actually looking forward to the spar with Sheo, even with an injured leg, he was still an adept instructor.

And it would further drill the image of him as a badass, fearless, strong soldier into the minds of the badlands. Even without weapons, even as a worm he was still intimidating, he still was able to crush someone's skull, he could break their spine or hand or neck. Bottom line, lesson to learn, just don't mess with Michael Ford.

— why the fuck was he even showing up to this kind of thing? sure, he wasn’t an expert in fighting, but he definitely knew how to hold his own. he definitely knew how to defend himself and, when worse came to worse, either kill the fucker or get the hell out of dodge. listening to sheo go on and on like he was some fuckin’ king almost made addy want to scoff and turn back around. now he was starting to realize why he hated forced social interactions. maybe this would be full of less talk - the mike and sheo roast show - and more fighting.

even though he was still recovering from getting stabbed a while ago, that wasn’t going to stop him from wanting to beat the shit out of someone. he watched as mike limped closer to sheo, hobbling his way on to teach them? “y’sure you’re up for that, mike? you’re waddling like a fuckin’ penguin.” being sympathetic wasn’t really in addy’s character, nor in his vocabulary- jeering at mike right before the man squared off against sheo was the least he could do.

RAE MCLEOD | FOURTEEN | BIO

rae was almost excited to be here. she knew how to defend herself on the most basic level and thanks to her pride wouldn't back down from a fight even if it was a sure bet that she'd get her ass handed to her, but more often than not that was the case and she knew very little about tackling a foe that actually knew what they were doing. its was about time she learned to fight. the ever-looming threat of the insurrection had cast a veil of dread over the badlands and everybody seemed to be at least a little on-edge as a result.

despite her eagerness to learn rae couldn't help but roll her eyes as sheo introduced the session. she had little respect for the man and had to admit that she didn't have the most faith in him and mike, each of whom faced an obvious impediment to their ability to perform physically. she smirked in addy's direction, silently agreeing with him. this was certainly going to be interesting. impatient, she blew a fat bubble with the gum she'd been chewing in an apparent attempt to be as much of a teenage stereotype as possible.

[align=center][div style="width: 375px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 7pt; line-height: 1.5;"]— Ellis didn’t quite look like he was much of a fighter. A boy so limber and lanky, minimal body fat covering his body and legs which much resembled the frailty of a grasshopper’s. In fact, it was partly true; his punches didn’t pack much power, but he didn’t need a strong punch if he had a knife. Specifically a fishing knife with a serrated edge - the serrations helped to bite into the flesh and work through the fibres swiftly, which was why he adored it so much. He could probably do with some more training on other weapons, as much as he hated to admit it, but Sheogorath and Mike could probably teach Ellis a thing or two. After all, Ellis enjoyed weapons. He enjoyed the power in them, what they could do to people. What he could do to people.

He folded his arms across his chest and he listened to Sheo’s introduction and then eyes turned as Mike began to bark. Ellis squinted his eyes in the sun, convinced that the older man was limping. Was he injured? He could remember there was some commotion the other day from an invading group. But Ellis couldn’t help but scoff under his breath. He was teaching them how to fight? Perhaps Mike needed to take his own advice some day.

Re: A SUNSHINY DAY -- combat training - CATALYST - 04-19-2019

Hadn't they said something about being a black belt and missing this? Something. Something that would make them a bit of a hypocrite if they didn't show. Not that there wasn't a dozen and more things to call them hypocritical before, but there was no reason to add yet another. Besides, they wanted to see what Mike and Sheo had in store.

But was Cat actually going to participate in physical activity? Fuck no. They even brought a folding chair to sit on so they wouldn't have to stand. They set themself up off to the side, careful not to be in the way. "If anyone's got a problem with this, I'm sure I can get a doctor's note." Their voice was dripping with sarcasm; the two Worms didn't have enough authority over them to get them to hunt down Mord or Lucerne just so that they could tell them they were supposed to be in bed anyway.

They typically dress in dark colors (favoring jackets with some sort of writing on the back), and their hair is black. They're not all dark, however, as they have pale blue eyes that peer out from beneath medium-sized eyebrows.

⇥ Catalyst is ambitious, with the cunning and ruthlessness to reach their goals by any means necessary. They can be brutal when they feel it is needed, however when it's not they won't bother. They tend to be rather aloof and apathetic to most things and people, with some very rare exceptions. Provided those around them don't cross a few specific lines, they're content to leave them be, though they've been known to take an interest in some people, which seldom has a positive end for whoever their interest is in. They can be manipulative, and will often encourage people to make bad decisions. Those that stick by them will be rewarded, but those that do not will be cast out, as they've been outcast for their entire life and have learned to appreciate loyalty wherever they can find it. Even during the most stressful of situations, they usually keep a firm grip on their temper and keep their calm, though when they do snap and lose their temper, it is uncontrollable. They're remarkably observant, often able to deign much from subtle clues in what people say, how they say it and how they act.

Perhaps Michael should have been resting, maybe he really wasn't in the best shape to teach others how to defend themselves, but whatever the truth was, he would gladly ignore it if it meant the thrill of the fight, the unbridled adrenaline that came from even a faux fight. Raising a hand to his jaw, he cracked it, the loud pop of the joint probably audible from a relative distance. His face was expressionless as he looked at Addy, the only indication that he had heard the younger man being a slightly raised eyebrow.

He turned his attention to the others that soon arrived, Rae, a young woman who could certainly use some training, and the Ellis, a boy he knew very little about, and wasn't particularly interested in getting to know better. Was that bad of him? Mike didn't think so, he wasn't the best judge of character, but he just didn't want to get to know yet another angsty teenage boy... Gabe was enough, and truthfully Gabe wasn't actually that bad at all compared to most teenage boys.

Finally Cat arrived, and despite their recent, and past disagreements, Mike offered the leader a nod of his head, more of an slight incline really, but it did show a bit of respect for the leader, something that had been lost for a while in Mike's eyes, and he was only just regaining a semblance of it again. Regardless of their differences tough, Cat was still Mike's boss, and he would differ to them. As they spoke he shrugged, he was fighting with a hole in his leg, but if Cat wanted to wuss out, then Mike wouldn't say anything.

It wasn't his place at the moment anyways. He looked towards Addy with a slight smile curving on his lips, "Alright Red, since you've obviously got this all figured out, why don't you come show the class how easy it is to take out this waddling penguin. I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all." He jerked his head towards the center of the area, where fighting would be less likely to include other people by accident. A smile was curving over his lips, and there was a slightly wicked glint to his eyes.

He knew Addy wasn't an idiot, but he also knew that the young man had this thirst to prove himself, and that especially in the presence of others, he'd be almost unable to turn down a challenge (if only to avoid looking like a coward). He'd bested the young man once before, though, granted, he'd not had a bullet wound at the time. But he was sure he could at least give the kid a run for his money if not utterly humiliate him, and wasn't that what training was all about? "Come on hot stuff, don't think you can beat a gimp?"

Oh he was living for this, payback for the little insult... he wasn't going to hurt Addy... not a lot, Cat was here after all, and he didn't want to get in trouble for hurting another Badlander, but he also really wanted to take Addy's confidence down a notch, at least for a short while, that kid had an ego the size of Texas.

People arrived, as expected. They were all there to learn basic combat maneuvers, but it seemed Addy's comment toward Michael was enough to throw the former soldier off course. Sheogorath offered a sigh, glancing toward Mike with blistering amber eyes.

[b]"Hey, we had a plan, asshole. And anyways, you are waddling like a penguin."
Sheogorath crossed his arms, but his expression was far from stormy. If anything, he was somewhat amused, but part of him was serious, of course. This was supposed to be training, not a chance for Mike to prove himself against Addy just because he was insulted. Was Michael being petty or something? Even if his friend had a smile on his face, Sheogorath thought as much.

"Okay, I guess we're changin' things up a bit. We'll let Mike demonstrate on Addy, instead of me. Because he got called a penguin. And we wouldn't want Addy to get away with tellin' the truth, now would we? Just don't break any bones, would ya? That would benefit nobody, even if it would be fun to watch." The self proclaimed madgod smirked. "Alright, Rae, Ellis, you two will practice what Mike demonstrates on each other. Take turns, and try not to break any bones." Sheogorath spoke more seriously now. As for Catalyst, considering they had brought a folding chair, Sheogorath didn't bother addressing them. It was obvious the leader wasn't there to work.

— addy had honestly known that he’d get a reaction from mike. fuckin’- asshole, always going and getting pissed off by everything-- what was he trying to do, steal addy’s whole trope? the man went on his big rant and, at the end of the day, it seemed like he wanted to have a little fight in front of everyone. and you know what? fuck it, addy couldn’t turn something like that down.

still, as sheo pointed out that addy was stating pure facts, he couldn’t help but gesture towards sheo after he said it, raising his brows at mike as if to silently convey an “i told you so.” still, after the gesture, he sighed before walking forward, muttering, “have it your way, dipshit..” sure, mike had bested him, before. but at the time, addy had seriously, seriously underestimated mike’s abilities. this time, he at least somewhat knew what he was getting into.

his goal was to land at least one good fuckin’ punch. make the man’s jaw crack. head spin. at least let the guy know that he didn’t fuck around. besides, this was a training session; he’d love to learn a thing or two, anything that might give him the upperhand the next time he sparred mike (which, at this rate, looked like it was going to be happening more often than not). walking over to the small clearing, he glanced at mike before he glowered, “go on, make your first move.”
