[spoiler=group idea notes; save for later]- sorta like how westeros was over on ff bc i miss it more than anything in the world
- live on a large island in the remains of a kingdom so there's just castles and keeps lying around
- characters are sorted into houses; some are blood related some aren't
- members can make their own houses but only like four are officially recognized at a time
- mostly internal conflict
- whether they're isolationist or not depends on who is in power and it's a source of controversy
- surnames are v important; existing families can set up houses too
- marriages are important as well, having children outside of wedlock is frowned upon
- allow joiners however they need to prove themselves
- houses have their own rules, some are exclusively blood related, some are open to outsiders, some can be v xenophobic it's whatever.
- treason is fun
- i just want drama [/spoiler]

[spoiler=evan past notes; tw for alcoholism, drug abuse, divorce, and suicide ]- evangeline eloise cavey was born to mira and elizabeth cavey. elizabeth struggles with depression and often lashed out at mira
- mira and elizabeth got divorced when she was four; had two younger siblings by this time
- mira got married to calvin cooney and had a set of twins; evan is six
- calvin became an alcoholic, was otherwise really great and evan loved him
- mira n cal had one more kid evan is eight
- meanwhile, elizabeth is in a relationship with thalia roberts and have two kids
- thalia leaves elizabeth and elizabeth commits suicide, mira and calvin take in their two children; evan is twelve
- calvin dies in a car accident driving home from a bar, mira withdraws from her children and evan begins taking care of them; evan is 14
- mira, who has become a drug addict over the year, leaves the family; evan is 15 and is forced to take care of her siblings
- the electricity dies and they are all separated, evan is distraught and 20
- evan meets bane and joins flintlock; she is 22[/spoiler]
