SHUT UP AND DRIVE / private - dannychan - 07-22-2018
triggers: past child neglect, violence, alcohol
steve and danny had been at kamekona’s place, having lunch and just chatting like they normally did. of course, they could never have anything nice. for once, steve had been having a good day, when suddenly he heard the sound of high pitched wailing coming from behind kame’s little food stand. he’s owned and looked at danny. “you stay here, i’ll be right back.†he said and moved off to find the source. after a few minutes, be cane to a trash bin (one of the huge ones), which the wailing echoed out of and he just climbed right in, digging through the trash and freezing when he saw just what it was. “danny!†he yelled, picking whatever it was out of the trash. he was holding a baby that couldn’t be more than a few weeks old. “danno!†he yelled again, holding the baby securely. he couldn’t exactly get out with it in his arms.

Danny frowned slightly when he heard the wailing, and he considered going right after the other, but he hesitated. His eyes widened, and he basically sprang up from his seat, rushing over and saying with shock, "H-Holy shit! That's a baby!" He moved to help Steve out of the trash bin, and he stared at the child in shock, saying softly, "Oh my god, you poor little thing..."

steve seemed so.. awkward holdin the child. he wouldn’t get it close to him after he got out, holding it under its arms while still supporting its head. “why would someone dump abundant in the trash?†he asked, eyes wide as he looked down at the shorter male. the baby looked like it was a native islander, with the same skin range and the dark hair, and the beautiful little brown eyes. “please take it, i don’t know how to hold babies..â€Â

Danny blinked in an absolute confusion and amusement at his awkward the other seemed. He reached out and took the baby from the other, holding it carefully against his chest and saying softly, "I can't believe you have no idea how to hold a baby..." He sighed and shook his head, before saying softly, "And someone would dump a baby in the trash if they didn't want it... And were an idiot who didn't realize they could drop it off for adoption."

Raising an eyebrow, Danny sighed and said softly, "We're going to take it to my house. I think I still have some baby food for when I'm babysitting some of my friend's babies, and I really think it needs a bath to get off the trash smell and stuff. And after it's fed and washed and possibly changed, we're going to see if we can drop it off at an adoption center somewhere, or contact somebody at some kind of station.

he nodded. “you know what? i’ll call chin, see if he can get ahold of CPS.†he said and move to kame to pay (something he rarely did)

Danny blinked and rose an eyebrow, obviously surprised by Steve paying, but he just gently bounced the child in his arms and moved to head to their car, waiting for Steve to follow.

he moved to the car and got in the drivers seat. “uh.. if we can’t get someone over here by the weekend, i can take the baby while you’re with grace..â€Â

He blinked and said, frowning slightly as he rose an eyebrow at Steve, "You taking the baby...? You barely knew how to hold the thing. I would rather just have it while I'm with Grace."
