YOU SHOOT ME DOWN / joining - merged stuff - 07-15-2018 [align=center] [glow=white,2,300]LIFE GOES ON, IT GETS SO HEAVY[/glow] [div style="width: 330px; color: black; font-size: 10pt;font-family: arial black; text-align: justify; margin-top: -5px;"]/trigger: blood, murder of a teenager/minor, injuryfor days the small group of five had been travelling- five days to be exact, which matched with the five guards and their constant moods. they had arrived in what used to be canada on tuesday, which had been gloomy and rainy, just like his oldest guard. wednesday had been loud with the sound of hooves against the concrete of small town full of people, all greeting the prince that was passing through, loud like the youngest guard. thursday had been calm but happy, just like his favourite guard who rode next to him the entire trip so far. friday had been full of ispy and excitement as they grew closer to their destination, excited like his twin sister that rode the same horse, sat in front of him on the saddle (much to nicéphore’s discontent). once saturday rolled along, everything had become eerily quiet, the wind of the mountain and the snow that billowed around them caused most of the guards discomfort, much like his newest guard. he had been keeping an eye on that guard, hardly sleeping around the man who kept staring at his sister (which was very creepy, as the man was nearly twice her age). as the snow had gotten worse, and the flurries turned to a blizzard, they had stopped to set up the tents under a mass of trees, and nicéphore had given his sister his fur cloak to keep the young woman warm. they would have to wait out the storm, the guards informed, and the silent guard merely gave a grunt. as the hours pulled along, the silence became unbareabke, and his sister jumped to her feet. “Je vais faire une promenade! Henry, Nicéphore, viens avec moi.[sup]1[/sup]†she demanded, and Nicéphore threw an uneasy look at the silent henry as he rose to his feet. “Opale, je ne suis pas sûr que prendre Henry soit la meilleure idée.[sup]2[/sup]†he said, obvious unease in his tone, however he stood as well and moved to his sister to make sure that he stayed close. opal shrugged and flashed one of her award winning smiles. “Ne t'inquiète pas, mon frère, je lui fais confiance.[sup]3[/sup]†she reassured, clapping delicate hands together and looking to henry, who was still silent as ever. Nicéphore sighed as he wadded through the snow after her, shaking his head. she was never good at listening to him, but he still loved her anyways. as they walked, the work grew darker, and henry took a torch from his belt, lighting it and holding it ahead of them. nicéphore didn’t like how the bushes rustled and how the critters of the night made their noises, and he guessed henry must have sensed that, as he set a hand on his shoulder and gave it a little squeeze. thought, it only lasted a split second, as after a moment, arrows started to pierce the ground near them, and opal shrieked in horror as one pierced her leg, then her stomach and the side of her neck, making her collapse and start to cry. before nicéphore could react, he was tackled to the ground and shielded by a large body, and when he turned to look, he saw henry, wincing as one arrow just barely broke through his armour. nicéphore turned to look back at his sister as she bled out, sobbing broke lg at the numbfeeling through her entire body, until the light died in her eyes. nicéphore struggles against the guard that was protecting him and scrambled to his sister in a panicked crawl. “Non! nNon, non, non! Non, ne me fais pas ça, Opal, tu ne peux pas, pas maintenant![sup]4[/sup]†he exclaimed and looked to the trees, scrambling to his feet, hot tears of rage filling blue eyes. in one fluid motion, he drew his sword, taking a battle position and shouting into the darkness, “Sortez et combattez comme des hommes, vous les lâches![sup]5[/sup]†there was no response except an an arrow flying through the air and piercing his stomach, nearly exactly where it hit his sister. blood started to seep through the fine fabric of his shirt and a bit of blood erupted from his mouth as he coughed, and fell to his knees, seeing henry charge into the trees, and shouts of about three other men sounded as his vision darkened and he blacked out. only moments later, he opened his eyes to see henry tying to bandage him up, and he saw that the arrow that had pierced his stomach was sat on the ground, arrow head bloodied. nicéphore let his eyes wander to henry as he felt the man’s hand go over his mouth, and suddenly a boiling pain formed over the arrow wound, and nicéphore screamed at the horrible pain that seemed to envelop him. when henry pulled away, he saw him stab a dagger into the snow and the blazing fire he had quickly made. sobs began to fall from the boy’s mouth as henry sat him up and started writing the wound, repeating to him over and over again in a language he hardly knew: “youre ok, prince, you’re ok.†/tldr: nicéphore’s sister was killed in an ambush, nicéphore was shot once but that was taken care of by henry, and now they’re sat a few miles from the village! [member=8711]MAGELLAN™[/member] [sup]1[/sup] I’m going for a walk! Henry, Nicephorus, come with me. [sup]2 [/sup]Opal, I'm not sure that taking Henry is the best idea. [sup]3 [/sup]Do not worry, brother, I trust him. [sup]4 [/sup]No! n No, no, no! No, do not do that to me, Opal, you can not, not now! [sup]5 [/sup]come out and fight like men, you cowards! Dark leather boots crunched against the glittering snow, the force of each step pressing into crystallized, powdered ice, a breath puffed upon the wind, expelled from lungs, drifting into the chilled atmosphere in the form of sparkling mist that danced and swirled toward the clouded sky. Frost dusted the shoulders of a man wearing a dark ski jacket and black pants, hands hanging loosely at his side, garbed in thick leather wool gloves. He looked average, albeit a bit tall, with brown hair covered by a snow kissed hood and eyes of glacial sapphire. Jonathan was out for a bit of a walk. He was searching for a quiet space in which he could conduct his experiments without being disturbed. Surely, a person screaming in the middle of town would draw attention. No, he needed a quiet place, away from the bustling Flintlock village. The old mines, perhaps. There were sure to be other entrances somewhere in the mountains. He'd find them, set up shop, and begin his work once more. Perhaps one day he would be discovered, but that was alright. There were plenty of other places he could travel to in which to continue his work. As he walked, searching, vigilant, he became increasingly aware of another presence in the snow nearby, heard the sound of an agonized shout. Curious, he was drawn to the noise, until his shadow passed the crest of a snow tuft, and he saw them. Jonathan paused, nothing more than a still figure kissed by the snow that drifted from dark clouds, an ominous form of dark clothing against the stark white, silent, and watching. He took note that one of the two men were injured, the younger, it would seem. Jonathan hummed silently to himself in contemplation. The wounded one would make for a good start, a victim that wouldn't put up as much of a fight, and miles out of town, who would ever know? But the other man looked tougher, stronger, perhaps skilled in combat. Jonathan wasn't certain that he wanted to chance it. Chilled eyes of blue narrowed with potential cruelty, but he said nothing, merely watched like a statue in the snow, a dark presence that hovered in the cold atmosphere. Loud but contained, the hoarse sound quickly spreads across the village, drawing Lupin to the original source like a moth to a flame. It's an effective alarm system if Lupin's ever known one; any external panic and they throw their voices into the wind until somebody investigates the cause of their concern. Sometimes, it saves a life; sometimes, it ends one. Regardless, it's a useful-enough tool, untaught and precious, that Lupin hasn't thought of any reason to quell the dogs' talkative habits. "Jonathan?" Initially, he believes the man to be the trigger, as strange as that seems - but it becomes very abruptly apparent that there's something far more pressing at hand. Without stopping to contemplate his own safety (a horrendous habit, really), Lupin half-walks, half-runs towards the two men sat in the snow, acutely aware of how cold they must be. "Hey," he calls in a blatant attempt to draw their attention towards him. "Are you both okay? There's a village a few miles from here, if you want to rest there." Perhaps the offer will be rejected out of a fear for their safety; given the appearance of the younger, he wouldn't be too surprised if the duo was plagued with wariness, but he isn't certain he's capable of leaving them without the guilt consuming him alive. Unflinchingly allied to the Peace Faction throughout the duration of his stay in New Carthage, Lupin turned his back on violence when he was but a child. Inflicting pain on others has never been an interest of his; sadism and a lust for power were both beaten out of him during his earliest years, and any curiosity felt towards either matter dwindled with experience. He doesn't speak for everybody, but so long as his word is law, he can at least offer some semblance of safety to those who pass through the village. Glancing behind him at Jonathan, Lupin presses his hands into his pockets and exhales. "Follow me, I'll find you somewhere to stay." It isn't much of a promise, but it's the best he has - and the best they have, too. If he can find a place to settle them, then maybe they have a better chance of surviving. Sitting in the snow doesn't exactly do wonders for one's health. |
