— though he learned english fairly quickly after the move, his parents did not and spoke romanian at home so he didn't lose his ability to speak romanian and ended up learning german and russian as well. this dude picks up language easily, especially when he was younger when it is easier to learn a new language
— when he was fourteen, his mother passed away from breast cancer and he had the little pink ribbon in the form of an enamel pin on his backpack for years after she passed and he still has it but doesn't wear it because he doesn't want to lose it on accident because except for pictures, it's one thing he has to remember her by
— his father continued to be a bit of a rock for elijah up until he discovered that elijah was gay and pulled back greatly because he didn't understand it and he didn't necessarily shut his son out but it did impact the relationship they had and elijah was very hurt by it but learned to let it go and just try to be the best son he could
— he is one of the sweetest people you will meet once you get past his hard exterior built by years of hardships as well as the job he occupies. despite this, he wants nothing more than to make those around him happy and would do almost anything just to see someone he loves and cares about smile. this also makes him fiercely protective of those around him that he cares deeply for
— for a long while, after he turned eighteen, elijah was a mercenary and was hired to kill and intimidate people, but mostly kill. he made quite the living and didn't really have a sense of a moral compass due to his job
— it was actually on a job that he met the one person to change his life, atlas jackson. atlas was a vigilante who had tracked down elijah due to the trouble he had been causing and there was quite the fight but it eventually ended in a heavy makeout due to a lot of sexual tension hanging in the atmosphere as well as taunting comments like elijah calling atlas "pretty boy" or atlas saying he "didn't want to hurt his pretty face". long story short, this is how elijah met the love of his life and while it was up and down for a few years, they eventually did get married
— something that surprises many people is how good he is with kids and teenagers. something about them tugs at elijah's heart strings and makes him want to help and make them smile and not be sad when the world is cruel
— around a year or so after elijah and atlas had gotten married, they adopted baby jamie and elijah loves his son very much and was extremely supportive when jamie came out as transgender and he and atlas have been helping him with his transition from female to male since they found out and are the best dads. when jamie was around nine or ten, elijah and atlas adopted cornelia, who was four when they finalized all the paperwork and just she's daddies' little girl and wow elijah loves his daughter and son so fucking much and their little family
— he has a scar on his neck that stretches from one side to the other in the front from a fight during a job and, while it didn't cut any major veins or arteries, it left a nasty scar that elijah used to cover up with a scarf but doesn't anymore because he has become much more comfortable with it
— for about a year or two, elijah was mia and was tortured and essentially stripped of every part of himself by someone who used to hire him for jobs and turned him into a weapon. he didn't remember atlas or jamie or nelly. he was void of emotion and it took a lot for him to start remembering his husband and children. the moment things really turned around for him was when he was watching the wedding video and had this moment with atlas and things slowly started coming back to him
— though things started to look up, he still had a lot of problems like there were times he'd wake up and he wouldn't be himself and would actually have his hand wrapped tightly around atlas's throat and had to be talked down and reeled back into reality. he also lost a lot of the light in his eyes and developed depression
— he has gotten a lot better from when he had first started getting back to normal and sort of returning to his old self though he will never be the same

— he doesn't normally go by camber, most people call him cam or reagan, which he actually prefers, but there are a few who call him by his childhood nickname, fox. the only person who he actually allows and feels comfortable enough with calling him camber is blake because he is the one person camber trusts
— a lot of people think he's a good kid and they'd be slightly mistaken due to him selling pills and weed at and outside of school
— is a very timid person due to his mother remarrying a wealthy businessman who treats him like shit. he's endured a lot of physical and emotional violence from his stepfather and his mother sits back and doesn't do a thing even when camber is in tears basically begging her to intervene but she absolutely refuses to do so
— relationships? who is she? camber struggles with forming emotional bonds with other people which, in turn, complicates things in terms of being friends with people or potentially being in a romantic relationship. that being said, camber has never closed himself off to any potential relationship but nothing has ever worked out when emotional ties come into play which is why things are complicated with blake
— after the many incidents involving his stepfather, the one person he goes to is blake and sometimes all he does is weakly ask him to hold him and somehow blake always seems to know that the reason camber is in tears is because of his stepfather and how to comfort him. just being in blake's arms somehow calms him down and helps quiets his sobs and stop his crying. blake makes him feel safe
— he really is a sweet person but is extremely broken and closed off emotionally to most people because he is scared of getting close and of being hurt. it takes forever for him to trust someone and even longer to open up
— alright, when things got extremely bad with his stepfather, camber actually took his stepfather's gun and shot him to save his mother from his wrath. he didn't exactly really process it until he heard his mother scream and he bolted right to blake, a shaking mess and just words were coming out but they were complete nonsense and they have been on the run ever since
— always looking behind his back because he's scared of getting caught

— it was made very clear that anything that was not considered "normal" was bad which would result in a lot of inner turmoil later in her life as she started discovering and figuring out who she is and exploring that and what the world offered
— was very rebellious even as a young child because of all the rules and regulations imposed on her as a child and she hated it and wanted to be a carefree young child and was basically robbed of her youth due to being scolded for running around in the rain or for playing in the mud and getting her clothes all dirty. this was really the start of the resentment towards her parents
— basically, her parents think the worst of her for a multitude of reasons and she has isolated herself from them as well as from potential friends because she believes she is a bad person due to the lack of love from her parents
— when she was around twelve or thirteen and the concept of being attracted to someone and dating started, she knew she was different from all the other girls in her school. they were all fawning over boys and all ketsiyah could think about was how cute the girl who sat two seats in front and one seat left in her geography class was. of course, she recognized this as "abnormal" because nobody else seemed to feel this way so she internalized all of this and joined in on the squealing about boys even though it was all fake and forced
— that same girl was actually the first person that ketsiyah ever kissed and it was on her doorstep and her parents opened the door right before they pulled away and basically dragged ketsiyah into the house and proceeded to yell at her and tell her that kissing other girls was wrong and that being gay is bad and just a lot of other homophobic and extremely hateful things
— this caused ketsiyah to turn even more in on herself and develop internalized homophobia towards herself because she saw herself as abnormal even more annd her self-hatred grew stronger and she started acting out and would cry herself to sleep because she couldn't help how she felt towards girls no matter how hard she tried. she would pray and write to santa to make her straight so that her parents would love her again and not be disappointed in her
— her grades dropped low and she didn'tt care about school and it was clear to anyone who saw her that she was depressed but due to her acting out, she was kicked out of quite a few schools. in the current school year alone, she has been to three separate schools due to her behavior and suspensions and all of that
— since she isolates herself, she does not have many friends and does not openly go up to people and is labled as a loner and a loser and one time someone painted "loser" and "kill yourself" on her locker and it just broke her more and more
— she has dated guys in hopes of becoming straight but it never works
— the first time she really felt that it wasn't horrible to be lesbian was when she met the people she currently calls her friends. while she was very closed off when she first met them and didn't really talk about her life or the bad things, she slowly opened up and even came out to them which was a really emotional thing even though they accepted her but it was the first time she really accepted herself for who she was and realizing that she wasn't broken or abnormal
— actually, if you'd believe it, fell in love with her friend riya and it absolutely terrified her and she accidentally blurted it out and then just fucking bolted and avoided riya because she was scared of being rejected. once she actually talked to riya again, she wasn't rejected and the two have been together ever since and sometimes when things are really bad at home, ketsiyah sneaks out and to riya's and just cuddles
— is very claustrophobic and gets anxious in confined areas and has panic attacks
— when her parents found out about her and riya, things got bad and ketsiyah actually ran away and disappeared without a trace. she got countless calls and texts from her friends and from riya and she ended up throwing her phone because everything was too much and all the internalized homophobia had come back all at once and she was gone for about three or four months before her friends found her and while they were mad, they were relieved she was alright and not dead

— oakley mae zhao, or just oak, was born on august ninth, to mei and shui zhao who were chinese immigrants and came to the united states six years before oakley was born and had only gained citizenship a few months before oakley was born. they barely spoke english but somehow managed to plant roots in america and established a life for themselves and that was major when oakley was born and he is very proud of his parents and he loves them very much
— speaks fluent chinese and english because his parents spoke mainly chinese at home unless oakley had someone over but even then, oakley did a lot of translating for them and his friends to help out both his parents and friends
— started ice skating when he was two years old and has grown into an amazing skater and can do lots of cool jumps and tricks and has been competing in competitions for as long as he can remember and has medals and trophies galore from all the competitions he has gone to over the years
— is the actual textbook definition of a human golden retriever. he is such a ray of sunshine and is happy all the time and it radiates across the room and just him being somewhere is enough to make anyone smile because he is always so happy to be around people whether he knows them or not
— when he gets nervous, he talks really really fast to the point of people not being able to understand him and he gets all jumbled up and stuff doesn't make sense and he gets nervous a lot especially when talking in front of people which makes presentations a nightmare so please bear with him if you can see he is nervous
— his home was very conservative growing up and wasn't even introduced to the idea of sexuality until someone called him a gay slur when he was thirteen because he's an ice skater and he didn't know what that meant and of course looked it up and found out what it meant; for a while he had been feeling things for guys and he had never known what it was or if it was normal until that happened and found out that it was normal and he still hasn't come out but he himself identifies as gay
— oakley doesn't know this but his parents would accept him for who he is if he comes out to them because they love him dearly and only want the best for him
— not extremely book smart and gets super frustrated when he doesn't understand what is going on in a class and he falls behind easily and has a tutor to help him, aka kal, which is working a bit but he still is struggling a lot
— met is best friend and skating partner, audrey campbell, when she moved and joined the skate club he was apart of and they became close and the coaches decided to put them together for partnered skaating and they work so well together and it's so good and wonderful and in an au (or canon) they go to the olympics and compete and actually like medal it's amazing
— audrey was the first person he came out to and currently the only person and it was really super emotional and he thought she may react badly and he had never told anyone but when she said she'd never not love him, he started crying and just hugged her so tightly and he was so overwhelmed yet happy because she accepted him for who he was and it was such a relief to tell someone his biggest secret
— there's a boy oakley has fallen head over heels for and a lot of the time he just screams about how cute hadley is and how much he wants to be with him to audrey but like isn't sure if hadley likes him in that way or not but the first time they met it was cute because it was for a youtube video and oakley had to hold hadley's hands while skating so that hadley didn't faceplant onto the ice

— looks a lot younger than she is and has been denied entry into bars because she looks like eighteen but she is about twenty-six years old yet nobody believes her
— has no time for bullshit flirting from alexander sleezy guys in clubs trying to hit on her and feel her up in hopes of getting her to go home with them. she has too much self-respect to give into the lustful glances of men
— is really good at playing pranks on people so watch your back because you never know when she's gonna strike with one of her carefully crafted pranks
— though she'd never admit it out loud, yvette is a big fan of reality tv shows like keeping up with the kardashians and jersey shore and teen mom. the shows are her guilty pleasure and when she's sad or bored she'll curly up on the couch in sweatts with a bowl of popcorn and binge watch for hours and hours
— extremely stubborn and will stand her ground no matter what which is probably why she has yet to admit she has feelings for a certain someone who she will not name because she doesn't want to admit that he is growing on her and that she may be developing some sort of actual romantic feelings for him

— finneus dominic coleman, or finn, was born on december twenty-seventh to anthony coleman and lucile davis in salt lake city, utah. he grew up in a not-so-great life and was not given the best cards in the game of life. his family came from poverty and were living on a pay check to pay check basis. they never had much and finn always knew not to ask for a new pair of sneakers or jeans even when his were full of holes. his parents constantly fought about money and debt and, in the end, divorced, leaving finn with a broken home and family
— he was pushed around a lot as a kid because his clothes were too big and were old and probably the cheapist thing his parents could find at the thrift store and yet none of this broke his smile because he knew his parents were trying their best to support him despite the troubles with their marriage
— nothing really changed until he turned sixteen and was coerced by a pimp and started to get pimped out to older, wealthy men. he had thought this pimp was a record producer who wanted to make him a star but oh god he was wrong. at first, he resisted it but once he realized how much money he was making, he adapted and worked freely and didn't even think about getting out of the life which may also because his pimp kept him too high to even think about it if he wanted to
— tw abuse many clients he had were quite violent and took out their frustrations on finn and it scared him and he would have bruises all over his body or be too drunk to stand. there was an incident where a client threw a champagne glass at him and it's why he has a scar in his eyebrow, from the glass. incidents like this were common and the pimp comforted him and said it wouldn't happen again yet it kept happening over and over but he started taking pills and shooting heroin to block it out
— started stripping when he turned eighteen so he wasn't being pimped out as much as he was when he was a minor but still did sleep around for money
— he met christo in school during a very awkward encounter and just fell in love really. he pushed it back because someone like christo could never love a broken boy like finn, or so he thought. they did eventually get together but that is when more drama and angst came into finn's life
— one night, finn had gone to chris's and he was clearly drunk and hallucinating seeing one of the clients from the past who had hurt him and he was crying and screaming because he kept seeing him and was yelling "go away" and "get away" and "don't hurt me" over and over. chris had somehow managed to calm him down and the next day, that's when finn explained what happened and that he mixed alcohol with drugs on accident and that's really when the fights about finn's occupation started to escalate because of that one incident
— they had countless fights and there was a lot of push and pull, some ended in angry make outs whereas others ended in tears and avoiding each other. once he heard chris say that he felt like "another meaningless fuck to you", that is when finn knew that what he was doing was wrong and that he needed to get out of the life
— well, he did (or so he thought) and things got better for a while
— but then, finn's former pimp threatened to hurt chris if finn didn't come back. so, to protect the love of his life, finn went back and tried to hide it but chris found out when finn was going through heroin withdrawal one morning and chris left because it was too much and finn had lied about getting better and never going back. finn felt so empty without chris and for a few weeks he didn't see him and he wasn't eating and somehow the pimp was arrested and put in jail and it is all a blur to finn. all he really remembers is calling chris and asking if they could meet up and he was so shocked when chris took him back and finn cried so much because he missed him so badly
— finn ended up getting clean though it was hard. he didn't go to a rehab center or do therapy. all it was, was him and chris struggling along through the mood swings and insomnia and refusing to eat anything. it still amazes finn that even after emotional "i hate you"s (which never were true only said during lows) and completely shutting him out, chris never left. finn gave him every reason to leave, yet he stayed
— he is a giver, not a taker. he will give his life to save the people he loves
— is still dealing and processing all the trauma he went through when he was sixteen until he was eighteen and realizing that all those clients had actually abused him and that none of it was consensual and that everything that happened was because of what the pimp had done and forced finn to do and sometimes he just feels like his skin is crawling or their hands are on him again and he has scratched his skin raw before to try and get the feeling to go away
— has many scars from needles covering his arms so he often wears long sleeves to hide them because he is embarrassed and thinks he's ugly. he also tells people that the scar on his eyebrow is actually just him shaving part of it to make it look cool because of how insecure he is of everything

— his parents are always putting him down and trying to force him to be a doctor and pressuring him to do all these things and it is specifically bad with his mother because she hates the very idea of benji doing something not in the medical field. basically, she doesn't want benji to follow his dreams of perhaps being a pro-football player or smth non-medical. while his father is also constantly putting him down, it is not to the same extent that his mother does. if anything, he just sort of piggybacks off of the insults benji's mom throws
— was in the closet most of his life and is a jock and thought it would ruin his image so he put up the "tough guy" exterior and was an absolute dick to everyone who was deemed below him and it is something he is not proud of especially after being outed by someone he considered his best friend when he got caught kissing aj (but it wasn't like they were in a relationship, it was a spur of the moment thing in response to aj asking him why he hated him or something) and just hell afterwards
— somehow, his father accepted him for who he was despite his homophobic views and things started to get a bit better with their relationship. however, his mother was not as accepting and things spiraled downhill
— in preschool and kindergarten, he was the kid who would always like run his fingers through all the coats or the backpacks or lanyards or whatever and nobody could really figure out why. for some time his parents thought he may have had special needs but as the years went by, he seemed to have stopped doing those little things and it was simply assumed it was just a thing he had done as a kid. too an extent, that is true. he doesn't really run his hand through a whole line of coats or a group of lanyards. instead it is more subtle things, like when he's at the library or a bookstore, he runs his hands along the spines of the books on the shelves or over the pages of a book. and these little things have just kind of become a part of who he is and nobody thinks anything of it. he also comes off as someone who doesn't pay attention or care about school which is due to the way teachers teach. he doesn't learn through listening to a teacher lecture off a powerpoint or have them read a textbook, it's the hands on things. while he learns alright auditorily, he is more of a kinesthetic learner and learns by doing not through reading or listening. he tends to zone out during class and only really succeeds in science class because that is a lot of hands on and doing stuff. math is also fine but not as much because it's a lot a lot a lot of note taking and he gets too distracted to take notes
— benji is afraid of being in love and being that kind of vulnerable with someone which is why he couldn't say it back when aj said it to him the first time because he couldn't let himself go there with aj cuz ya know he's got all his issues that he doesn't want aj to see and he doesn't want him to see his vulnerable side
— will forever blame himself for things that go wrong in his relationship with aj. they get in an argument? his fault. aj cheats? his fault. they break up? his fault
— he's got more angst but it's really sad and i want to give him some happy
— gets really giddy when he sees aj wearing his varsity jacket and wants to cry and just he thinks aj is so cute because the jacket is like three size too big for aj and just pure; and the jacket was actually an anniversary present to aj from benji
— once he figures out that his habits are due to him being sensory oriented, he feels not so alone because there are other people who are the same exact way and he isn't the only one and god benji was so giddy after that
— before he was out, he went to some college parties and hooked up with a guy and nobody knew about it and he always got high and he was essentially taken advantage of because he was intoxicated and couldn't properly consent to any of the things he did with the guy but he never actually realized this, even now
— he really likes the movie trolls and kind of is like blanche andd he may or may not also know all the words to all the songs, it's pure okay
— tw suicide attempt, rape when aj cheated, benji is broken, like legit shattered. his first instinct is to blame himself and then to isolate himself or try to feel numb. he thinks things are over and that aj doesn't love him so he goes back to that guy and gets high to the point where he is numb and practically incapacitated and can't fight back when the man takes advantage of his body and rapes him. he lets it happen. he snaps very shortly after casey talks to him and he tries to take oxycodone but he can't get the cap off because his hands are shaking so much and someone stops him and he isolates himself further because he hates himself and still finds himself crawling back to that stupid man who intoxicates benji and has his way with him
— is almost the tallest person in the room because he's 6'3" but also like it means he gives really good hugs plus he is very muscle so he has muscles and strong hugs

— cassidy pietro jasperson was born on june seventeenth to cassandra and lukas jasperson and he has one older brother, ashton, whom he kind of gets along with
— he deals with anxiety that leads to panic attacks. this attacks have sent him to the hospital because there are times where he can't move or breathe, it's so bad. on top of his severe anxiety, cassidy suffers from an alcohol and drug addiction. this was brought on by all the pain and trauma in his past with the gang violence. there have been instances of him overdosing on something. cassidy has been in and out of rehab multiple times but nothing seems to help and he just relapses
— looks like he'd be a jackass but really he is just someone who is very emotionally unstable and doesn't like to admit how he truly feels and sleeps around a lot to avoid confronting any actual romantic feelings. for most of his life it is just every night he was with a new guy in bed and the next morning he doesn't even remember their name and it never happens again with the same guy
— his home life as a child was far from pretty. with his father and older brother involved in a gang, there was never a peaceful moment in the house. his mother tried desperately to get a divorce but his father always prevented it and it only made things worse in the household
— cassidy isn't the only family member to suffer with alcohol. his elder brother started drinking at age fifteen and spiraled into alcoholism and rehab hasn't helped and this has resulted in violent outburts from his brother towards his wife and children which actualy results in a lot of fear from cassidy towards his big bro
— tw abuse grew up around a lot of gangs and his father and older brother were part of a notorious gang. because of this, cassidy's father was rather abusive towards cassidy and his mother because they were perceived as weak. this lead to a lot of the anxiety problems that cassidy has nowadays especially when it comes to human contact. his father would constantly hit him and yell vulgar things
— he is actually allergic to beef and is a full fledged vegetarian because of his dietary restrictions and all of that
— is a lot nicer than you would think and is a big sweetheart but don't get on the wrong side because he will kick the ass of whoever hurts someone he loves and cares about without a second thought because he is fiercely protective
— trying to get through to him about his problems so he can get better is like talking to a brick wall, he blocks all of it out and refuses help because he doesn't think he deserves help because he is too much of a fuck up to be worthy of anything good
— dated jamie castillo briefly and they broke things off and then, by a stroke of luck or fate or even destiny, a couple years later ran into each other again and thus blossomed a beautiful relationship and you bet your ass they are still going strong and are very much in love and how could you not ship cassamiee they are goals

— jupiter isidore brescia was born on january twenty-third in finland hundreds of years ago to demetria brescia and an unnamed demon parading around as a man named dominic herthwood. the demon stayed around until demetria had a second child, venus, whom jupiter became very protective of as they got older, especially because their "father" aka the demon abandoned the family
— when he was around six years old he discovered he had abilities and that his little sister had them too. of course, this was a time when people were being accused of witchcraft and was no place for either to admit that they had these powers. well, it took a toll, hiding these abilities to the point where they had no control but they were not blamed because their mother, having figured out what happened, took the blame and was hung for witchcraft and it traumatized jupiter
— the trauma of his mother's hanging followed him to the children's home he and venus were sent to and he had nightmares about it every night for a year and sometimes these nightmares come back and haunt him to this present day
— having to conceal their abilities became harder but venus had started to show hers to other kids in the home whereas jupiter did not and tried to get her not to because of what could happen if anyone else discovered that they were "special" but his warning and pleas fell on deaf ears because she didn't listen to him
— when he was thirteen, a kid who was twice his size started pushing him around and taunting him and a lot of bad stuff and jupiter had an outburst of pure rage and anger and his abilities manifested from that and he ended up accidentally killing the other kid. of course, he knew he couldn't stay any longer and took off which left venus to take the fall because he didn't go back for her which ya know, results in a lot of resentment from her later on
— he stayed in europe for much of his teenage years, only fleeing to america after he was almost killed by a pair of shadowhunters just outside of essex in 1903
— jupiter became the high warlock of brooklyn in the early 00s after the previous had been killed and it was very hard because that particular warlock had mentored jupiter and it was like losing a part of his soul and a piece of his family
— a very kind person, truthfully, and is almost like a father figure to many downworlders who have lost their way and need guidance and he gladly helps because he doesn't want anyone else to go through what he went through when he killed that boy because he had tried to push away who he really was
— jupiter speaks a plethora of languages which include english, spanish, french, greek, german, russian, and chinese. his vast knowledge of language is due to him being a warlock and having magical abilities and spells being in many different languages both old and new and often needing to be translated
— there are a lot of reasons jupiter distrusts and dislikes shadowhunters. one of the main reasons is that a pair from london hunted him for years. he would portal to different places and somehow they always found him. it took him using offensive magic and killing them to finally be free. the other big reason is that a shadowhunter killed his mentor and previous high warlock of brooklyn
— jupiter has jet black hair that is long on top and shaved on the side. there is rarely a time where you will see him without the tips of his hair dyed some sort of color. his personal favorite that he's done is a reddish-violet because it looked really cool
— black nail polish for days, he's always wearing it
— the first shadowhunter he actually learned to trust and not hate was lukas trueblood and honestly, lukas and his siblings have changed the way that jupiter sees shadowhunters. they aren't all the same evil people who hunted him for years and killed other species of downworlders for fun. he saw that they fight for each other and that they don't necessarily hate downworlders or want them dead
— despite currently being in a relationship, it hasn't stopped jupiter from being extremely flirtacious whether it be within his own relationship or to con his way to getting something. the aloof and teasing persona he developed has yet to evade him despite the world being cruel and a ruthless place
— anything can be solved by a couple drinks
— like all warlocks, jupiter has something about him that clearly sets him apart from normal humans, or a warlock mark. he has bright amber cat eyes that he learned to hide under a glamour spell when he was younger and very rarely do you see them except if he is using powerful magic
— did i mention that his sister hates him for making her take the blame for him killing that boy when they were children and she will do whatever it takes to get revenge
— oh yeah, his demon daddy mentioned early was actually a greater demon but jupiter has yet to figure out which of the greater demons was the man who was suposedly his birth father but he is trying his hardest
