HURRICANE | WEEKLY TASKS, 4/30 - 5/6 - JOSIE - 04-30-2018 [align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]Jo had underestimated just how difficult it would be, adjusting to a new home. She'd been traveling for a few months before coming to Flintlock, but even that had given her some kind of strange, aching heart. She missed the creak of the third stair that always seemed louder at midnight, and she missed her favorite patch of sunshine on the porch. There were things about Flintlock that she could see herself loving in the future, but for now the young woman is still feeling a little lost, particularly when it comes to being in charge. There are things to fix about this place, and in the meeting she had promised they would work on their common room. However much Jo would love to just get started on her own, this was a team thing, and they all lived her. Like her mama had always said, it'll go faster if we all do it together. So she shifts nervously and glances to Ellie, but clears her throat after one last glance over her list of possible tasks. "If any of you want to help us clean up the common room, Ellie and I have a list of things to do. 'F you get done with one, please help with everyone else." Thirty Three ▲ "What is on your list, Mademoiselle?" He was there immediately--eyes wide and features attentive; he was desperate for something to do, as anyone who'd seen him washing dishes and dusting and--well, looking for more to do, could tell. "I will help. I'll do--whatever you need." He tried to offer a brief smile--he detested taking orders, but he couldn't exactly blame her--and he was simply grateful she had a good sense of priority. Perhaps almost too much ease, though she wouldn't say it. She had never met someone so eager to be a part of domestic life, something as simple as cooking and cleaning. Most travelers she'd met before Ellie wanted some kind of adventure, but he was both older and wiser than many of those strangers had been. She understands his distaste for orders  maybe in a more sensible world, their places would be switched. After all, Jo had grown up with that strange sort of freedom that came from every waking moment being dictated by the sun. Though she took the dog for a walk when her mother asked, and helped do the dishes when her father said so, they had enough storms and crazy weather to ensure that the only thing she really paid attention to was... Well, everything else. It's going to take some adjusting, being in charge of these sorts of decisions. Though that doesn't mean she can't have a bit of fun with all of it, right? She offers a smile, a little brighter than normal, and glances towards the windows. "I think we're going to be replacing the drapes, would you mind taking them down and cleaning the windows? We could use some sunlight, anyway. You're free to ask if you need help, of course." Re: HURRICANE | WEEKLY TASKS, 4/30 - 5/6 - ROQUE - 05-04-2018 [align=center] [table]

Thirty Three ▲ Eager was an unflattering word, in his book--but perhaps it was true nonetheless. Ease, however, was the wrong word--he felt, anyway. He knew how to force himself into a new place; but the 'force' was for himself more than those around him--those who he was still, frankly, terrified of, whatever showed. Cleaning was just one way to pretend the stress didn't exist--or was only about the disarray. He didn't like...being a subordinate. He'd do it well, of course--but as Jo spoke, his steely stare didn't waver; his smile was long gone. Drapes--he'd seen them earlier, in the common room and a few other areas. Dingy and stained. they really did need replacement--but this was a high-roofed building, and..he was fairly sure those were at least eight feet high, or something. He watched Jo's face, and when she mentioned help--his jaw twitched. She wanted to--embarrass him. Make him ask for help like he was--incompetent. She'd 'promoted' him--was this a test? It was a pretty cheap one. His expression was stony--and quite a lot was running through his mind, jibes and retorts--but he was the adult here. Sometimes he wondered if he was the only one. "I don't need help, Mademoiselle." All the same, his tone was sharp, drawn and poisonous--before he turned, quickly making his way to the basement; he had to take some stock and figure out how the fuck he was gonna do this. Re: HURRICANE | WEEKLY TASKS, 4/30 - 5/6 - impiety - 05-05-2018 [align=center] Cat was drawn by the voice of Jo, his eyes trained on her as he listened quietly, observing the conversation as he tried to stay out of view, and succeeding at it too. Soft green eyes latching onto Roque at what Cat found to be an unexpectedly sharp tone, he slowly decided to step out whilst Roque headed away, headed into the room now. "I'll do somethin' if I like it." He grunted, tone rough and expressing the lacking desire to actually assist.
