✨ saved maikico headcanons
 they met in first grade. nico was more of an introvert, while maika was the bolder one of the two, so they hadn't talked too much at all, being almost clashing personalities. it wasn't until art class that day when they were both merely six years old, and maika had forgotten her crayons at home. deciding that she simply couldn't draw without crayons, she walked up to the quiet kid who was always reading at his desk during recess, and asked nico if she could borrow his blue. she continued asking for different colours throughout the period, and by the end, when she came to return all of them, she also came with a drawing. it was both of them (her and nico) in different colours, holding hands and playing outside. she had written a note on the back asking if she could be his first friend, and that she became. nico still has the drawing framed and put up on his bedroom wall to this day.
 they both appreciate each other's talents a lot, even if they are both humble about them. maika knows about how intelligent nico really is and about his hobby for tinkering and putting things together, and she supports his knack for creating things in this way fully. on the other hand, nico also knows about how much she loves colouring and about her great spanish skills, and completely wills her to keep going and learning more about what she loves, and even helps her research and teach it to herself sometimes. they are both completely supportive of each other and always will be.
 they're both into drama. maika a little more than nico, but nico likes to join in if he gets to do it with her. their personal favourite that they've both been a part of is peter pan, where maika played wendy and nico played john.
 they probably call each other by their full names all the time in a joking way. "maika renee foster, come down here and welcome me into your house already!" "nicolas jeremy drake, you had better hurry up or we'll be late to school!" stuff like that.
 they're both the biggest animal lovers oh my gosh. you will 110% find them both on a tuesday afternoon over at each other's place for the sole reason to cuddle with each other's dogs.
 speaking of that, they're probably always at each other's houses. the two are literally inseparable, and whether it's for a disney singalong marathon, arts and crafts, or just to hang out and talk, they're always with each other.
 they're the type of people to mix their m&m's and popcorn at the movie theatre. don't ask me why or how i know this, i just do.
 they're probably both hardcore feminists and have long rants about equity and how unfair the world is together, and then the other half of the time, they're trying to imagine tom cruise as a lizard. their conversations are very random and scatterbrained, and they wouldn't have it any other way.
 they talk to each other about literally everything and the other will listen with full attention. maika wants to talk about dogs or how sad she is about thomas from grade school? nico's all ears in a snap. nico wants to talk about space and complain about how he's never won an arm wrestle? maika will be listening in the blink of an eye.
 i'll probably add more sometime i love these two with all of my heart
