The child's eyes opened, a small gasp of air escaping his lips, gripping himself back to reality. That no, maybe it exactly wasn't okay. That nightmares, or moreso memories haunting his sleep, have been a big hardship him lately but he had to learn to pass them. He had to resist the urge to fall in their sadistic torments. Even if it was the easy way out. The fact that he had the weight on his shoulders from this secret was enough.

book boom boom

Again, there it was. A knock at the door of the small trailer that he and his twin brother, Hunter shared. He was unsure who it was, for no one paid the twins no mind unless they had to wake up early for a show — well, unless Hunter had to wake up early for a show. But Chase knew that there wasn't one, at least not in the early of the morning. It could have been Charlotte, who did happen to be up fairly early quite often, but she just didn't knock like that. And she learned that at times, Hunter did not react too joyously at times to the interruption of his "beauty sleep". It wasn't all the time he was like that, of course, but when he was exhausted from sneaking out all night, either out late visiting Silas or visiting him.

Chase sat up into an upright position, allowing himself to take in the scenery. He wasn't sure why, just for that small sense of familiarity. Reassurance. That he was no longer relieving that night. Instead he was in the trailer. Didn't have much. Two beds. A sink. A bathroom. And sunlight spilling through the windows. The boy let his shoulders fall with relief, looking over across the area of the trailer where his brother should has been sleeping as well. "Hunter?" the boy mumbled, his voice still beaded with exhaustion.

But he wasn't there.
The bed still crinkled, barely made. Hunter style.

Chase was used to his brother not being in bed when he went to sleep at times, but it was very rare for him to not be here when he woke up. Concerned, Chase went to the door, hoping something didn't happen that he didn't know about between the time he fell asleep and just know waking. Opening the door, he was welcomed with the presence of a tall man in a police suit with a mustache, a hat, the police badge.

Something must have happened. Chase began to think of the hide out. How could they have possibly found that when it was so well hidden? Was Hunter going to jail. Chase was able to sneak a peak around, hoping to catch a glimpse of his twin but only was surprised to see a good amount of policemen waiting at tents and trailer doors. They must have found something. but if it was Hunter, why did it matter to him? Whatever he got in the end, he deserved. Taking those innocent people's lives. Being influenced by the so-called myth, Milo Barnes. In the end, it was Hunter's choice.

"Hello there, young man. I'm here to ask you a couple of questions if that's okay with ya." No, it wasn't okay. But Anna's strict rule to stay mannered stuck with him so after a hesitant moment, Chase stepped out. "Chase. Chase that's yer name?" The police officer continued after chase closed the door. Simply, Chase nodded, deciding that was polite enough. "Did you know the man, that human, that was a regular here? Gossiped about yall and such?"

Know him? Of course. It was Charlotte's uncle. He didn't talk to him enough to tell you everything but he could tell you that he did love Charlotte a lot and that he was a victim at the hands of his brother just days before. He already felt this as the beginning of an uncomfortable situation.

Chase knew there was no reason to lie to that and again, nodded.

"Well, he... Died. We found 'em last night in the forest. And Im not sure how well you know him, but I simply want to know what you do. Maybe you don't know anything. That's al'ight. I just want to know the last time you saw him."

The last time he saw him. Well, it'd be something that the policemen would like to hear. The last time he saw him, was when he became the actor of Hunter's fim, documentary. How he did not get even the slightest chance to scream as he was stabbed the multiple of times he did because Hunter taped his mouth shut but being as cocky as he was, he didn't cover his eyes. Chase was sure he enjoyed the fear in them and Chase could agree (of course not with Hunter, but the man's fear), because he reflected off it. Just there were times where the nightmares became to gruesome, he found himself stumbling to the exact spot where the act was taking place. When he finally regained his footing, he's not even sure how he got where he did til he was watching the looks of his brother, who was either focused, as if it was some type of job or smiling as if some type of game. Either way, it was sick. And every time, Hunter threatened him. Hunter or Milo. "Tell anyone I'll kill you." "Tell anyone he'll kill you." "Watch the film over and over." His own brother. Threatening to kill him. The most heart wrenching and most scariest thing he'd ever hear.

After witnessing the murder, he didn't have a nightmare that night. Sometimes even the next. But then they began again and again. He assumed that was Milo's works though he could never be sure.

"i saw him... In the woods when I was taking a walk... But I left." he lied, though it wasn't a complete one. He was sort of walking in the woods. Unlike Anna and Hunter, Chase wasn't the best at keeping things that pressured him, that seemed to be tightening his chest. As soon as it left his lips, he could tell the policeman would be wanting more. It showed in the man's face.

"Are you sure that's all? You don't have to be scared to tell me more if you know any more."

"it's my story. That's all I know..." Chase tried, looking at the ground below him. The man kneeled on one knee to his height now and forcefully, Chase flickered his eyes up to meet the older man's. "Are you positive?"

God, was he? What if they already had Hunter? Then he couldn't hurt him and he'd be okay.

"Chase? What's going on?" As if on cue, the familiar voice of Hunter. It came from behind him and the boy went ridgid, trying to make it clear as he looked over his shoulder. Hunter was already dressed. A red and white plaid shirt, jeans and sneakers. He held a half eaten green apple, joining his side. "Did someone die again?" He said it so casually, it sent shivers door Chase's spine — one he was sure that Hunter knew he was getting — but the policeman didn't suspect anything from it because they never suspected the kids.

"Ahem, Hunter Adams right?" The police asked, receiving a small smirk and chuckle from Hunter as he took another bite into his Apple. "The only." He answered, looking up from his apple to the police officer. "We are investigating the murder of a regular here. Do you possibly know anything about it?"

Hunter stopped mid crunch, glancing over at Chase, one that the boy caught. Telepathically, he knew that his twin was secretly telling him that he better not have said anything. He looked over at the policeman once more, shrugging. "They tell us nothing so therefore, I know nothing. Why do you think it has anything to do with us anyway? Because we're superior?"

There, the policeman looked kind of annoyed. "Because he visits you often. That's why. Look, I'm just wondering when's the last time he saw him and last time your brother said he saw him was near he was killed. We're just solving an invesigation for a human being, kid. Doing what's right."

Chase felt his blood run ice cold. He knew exactly what his brothers reaction to this news would be, and he knew it wouldn't be good. Right then and there he realized he might have said too much. He looked over at Hunter, who was very much in fact giving him for something that might have appeared casual but he knew that secretly, it was far from it. He said too much.

"Oh yeah I'd been there. I didn't really pay attention to the man, though. Chase has been having nightmares lately so I was just talking to him, helping him clear his head." Hunter said, of course sounding fluent as he spoke, his eyes lingering on Chase a bit longer before looking at the policeman. "But trust me sir. We know nothing more than that."

Re: I WAS HER WITNESS / dump - vix - 03-29-2017

Quote:Silas was mad.

God, he was so mad.

It showed in his body posture, his frustration boiling out like of him like an overflowing pot. When he spoke, he spoke the words everyone probably thought, but never out loud, passionately, loudly, without much second thought. Listening to him, it brought Hunter an overwhelming sense of excitement that made him almost squirm in his seat as his watched his second idol, much more a renegade, Silas Overton rant about how he was tired of the policemen constantly blaming them, how he was tired of them period. He didn't bother to censor any possible word he said, just let it flunetly fal, his mouth, keeping everything honest. This was the reason why Hunter looked up to him. Anna, Hunter's older sister and also the co-leader thought he was a threat but Hunter found him to be pretty awesome. He wasn't surprised that out of anyone, if someone were to take a stand, it was going to be him. In fact, when Silas announced that he was going to have a "word" with the cops, which of course, Hunter knew what the key word "word" meant, Hunter was around halfway off the counter, an excited smile on his lips, quite the opposite from Silas, actually. He wasn't sure why, but he took the joyous pleasure of the police being confronted on this even though they were looking in the right place — especially by Silas. And he knew it was definitely someting that couldn't be missed.

Hunter watched his older friend exit the trailer, slipping the rest of the way off just as there was a knock at the door. Just as he was about to leave, a small voice cut through the silence. Chase. Someone who — because of all the heat, the quick rush — he forgot had been there. "You're not actually going to go out there and join him are you?" He asked, which Hunter found an pretty stupid question. Scoffing, Hunter shook his head. He couldn't believe the boy had even the slightest amount of guts to talk to him after what he told the cops. He was not slipping past that. Not that easily. "But what Anna said-"

"Bullsh-t on what Anna said, Chase. I'd be stupid not to go." the child said. By his words, it shut up Chase his brown large brown eyes boring into him. As Hunter brushed off his annoyance, the child's smile returned once more, the usual cocky one, the one that screamed "taunting" for his twin brother. "I can't miss my show. I'm the one who created it." With that, Hunter swung the door open, closing the door behind him, pausing briefly to look at Charlotte. "Hey Lottie. We're going to riot wanna come? Or do you wanna go join the deadbeat in there?" he asked, most likely knowing what her answer would be. After all, she did like to have a little bit of fun in her life and also, it was quite obvious out of him and Chase, Hunter was her favorite. At least Hunter assumed so.

Without another word, Hunter made his way up towards the area where most of the policemen were. When he caught the glimpse of Silas, he moved into a small jog, not wanting to miss anything that the male said, though he was sure he had by the sneer that contorted the policeman's features. "How did we miss questioning him?" The man asked aloud, to probably any police officer that heard him. "We're not just putting the blame on you son, we're simply using common sense. He lived here. He had a niece here. He was murdered close to here. Wouldn't it be the most logical he could have been logical that he was murdered by one of ya freaks." He found Silas, a boy that was obviously younger than him, probably the much more foolish, amusing. Hunter could tell it in his face and slightly, that annoyed Hunter. But being only eleven, unless questioned, he knew it wasn't the best to butt in. If they didn't take Silas seriously yet, then he would definitely become a laughing stock to him. Instead, the boy continued to listen, unsure where this could possibly by heading.

Re: I WAS HER WITNESS / dump - vix - 03-29-2017

Quote:He was driven from his thoughts when suddenly, there was a gun shot. One gun shot. Then two. Each making the younger child jump, regaining his focus but still, he was too far away to figure exactly what was going on and so caught off guard, it almost drew him under his covers rather than to investigate. As he strained to look, he could see there was some confrontation, must have been, between the police officer, before they all moved away, huddling back into their police cars and driving away.

Chase had no intention of going out, even though he thought it had to be one of the police officer who did the honors, but Hunter came in, out of breath, his eyes wide. "Ch-Chase they- the police - they actually- you have to get out there."

"what?" Chase demanded, curious what exactly they actually, a lump forming in his throat. "Charlotte's hurt." His brother answered. "They shot Charlotte." Wasting no time, his brother flew out the door, leaving a gaping Chase behind. He didn't , not at all, wanted to go out there. He knew it. He knew this could possibly not end well, that it could be disasterous. Not exactly what he had imagined, but it didn escalate quicker than he would have thought. Knowing that he couldn't waste no time, being the healer, the boy stepped outside, closing the door behind him, following his brother to where the confrontation had set out. He didn't even want to see it. But knew he had to.

Re: I WAS HER WITNESS / dump - vix - 03-29-2017

Quote:"Hunter what happened?" she asked, afraid to look at where the group was huddled , though a part of her knew what this could have meant.

Hunter seemed to notice her for the first time, doing a quick double take. He seemed unsure, before he took a small sigh, throwing out an arm. "Someone had to speak for us. We didn't know they would actually shoot do that." He exclaimed, automatically defensive, but for what? Did he speak up against the police? Even if he did, honestly who would take him seriously?

Anna said nothing but risked walking over, small heavy steps in front of the other and there lay nothing but a lump of innocence, beauty. Something you just couldn't hurt, someone who just had about the roughest day learning her uncle was dead today. Chase looked up at her, brown eyes glazed with anxious and worry, pity, not knowing how to settle it. She knew that he had to technically be calm to do this. "who did this?" She asked but Chase couldn't answered, it seemed, because once more Hunter was speaking up. She turned to him, he was full defense mode.

"Someone had to speak for us, Anna. We're tired of being blamed, not having a voice. we're always blamed. Always. He was just trying to do what was right for us he didn't think anyone wouldn't hurt." The use of he instead of I confirmed, thankfully, that it was not Hunter, but he didn't reveal a name. Anna attempted to keep herself at bay though for the first time, she was close to losing it. Never often did she do so, but this way far too much in one morning and this just about did it. "who Hunter?" she demanded, looking into his eyes "who spoke up for you?"

Hunter didn't speak. In fact, he attempted to hold her stare. She attempted to search anything but those eyes though. His body posture. But it didn't matter because when she demanded once more, his eyes flickered down and then briefly, briefly was enough for him to look at the blonde boy who strayed away from the rest and she knew exactly who is was.

She never remembered being this upset before, feelings this over puncturing feeling of coming undone, of completely losing herself but as she walked up to him, the wreck who caused this all, Silas himself. She of course had her suspicions but she didn't imagine him actually doing something such as this. Putting them in danger, getting a child injured.
